Sera Yu Wen Chen

Born in 1991 in Taiwan. Graduated with an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2019. Currently based in Taipei, Taiwan. Chen's practice spans moving image, photography, installation, and new media. Through landscape, plant life, and archival fragments, she examines the entanglements of memory, cultural identity, and place, tracing how histories of migration, colonialism, and environmental transformation continue to shape contemporary experience.
Recent exhibitions include “Perceive Shadows in Mother Tongue” (Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, 2024), “Tropical Imagination” (Taipei Artist Village, 2023), and “Everyday Fictionality: Beholding Shadows of Illusion” (Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2019).
She participated in “TOKAS Project Vol. 5: 'Himotoku' The Opening Blossoms of an Unraveling World” (Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, 2022) and Tokyo Arts and Space Exchange Residency Program [Taipei] (2022).
